How often should you have your chimney swept?

The purpose of having your chimney cleaned is to remove soot, built-up creosote and blockages from your chimney liner, firebox, smoke chamber and damper.

It only takes a small accumulation of creosote glazing to drastically increase your risk of having a chimney fire. Creosote is a highly flammable substance that is created as a result of burning wood.
